We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help design, build, and scale the services that power our platform.

Note: This role is on-site. You’ll be based at our Stockholm headquarters at Repslagargatan 17, Södermalm, working in a hybrid setup.

What you'll do

• Design and ship backend services on our Go, Postgres, and Kinesis stack.

• Work across a broad surface area, from high-throughput ingestion pipelines to payment and entitlement systems to AI-backed personalisation.

• Partner day-to-day with product managers, designers, mobile engineers, and data to turn fuzzy problems into well-scoped services, and make sure what you ship actually lands with users.

• Use AI coding agents as a first-class part of your workflow, champion improvements to our internal skills library, and help raise the bar for how the team works with them day to day.

• Own features end-to-end from RFC through production, including the observability, alerting, and documentation that come with a grown-up service.

• Mentor peers, push back on weak design, and help shape our tech radar.
  
  

Who you are

You've operated at senior level in a high-growth environment and care about craft as much as velocity. You're a generous collaborator - the kind of engineer people want in the room when things get hard - and you communicate clearly in writing and in person. You're comfortable pushing back, comfortable being wrong, and comfortable shipping.

• Expert at building backend systems in Go, ideally in a microservice or modular-monolith context. Comfortable reaching for another language when the problem calls for it (we have some legacy Python hanging around).

• Strong with event-driven architectures. We use Kinesis heavily; prior exposure to event sourcing & CQRS is a real plus.

• Comfortable on AWS, with Kubernetes (we run EKS) and infrastructure as code.

• You use AI coding agents in your daily work - we’ve standardised on Claude Code - and can speak to how you structure context, critique outputs, and keep the feedback loop tight. The use of AI assistants is not optional.

• Strong communicator across disciplines. You can write a clear RFC, argue its merits with engineers and non-engineers alike, and commit gracefully if a different direction is chosen.

• Genuinely curious about the problem, not just the code. You want to know why a feature matters to users, not just what to build.
  

Nice to have

• Experience with payments, subscriptions, or entitlement platforms.

• Background in a regulated domain - health (GDPR Article 9), finance (PCI), or similar.

• Distributed tracing and observability experience.

• Scale-up or startup experience - you know what "good enough" looks like at different stages.
